Gripshift is a unique mixture of racing, platform and puzzle genres all rolled into one. The idea of the game is to navigate the different courses whilst beating time limits, collecting various stars and symbols, making jumps and beating other drivers. In my view yes this does make it unique but extremely difficult and frustrating - I'll expand below:
Graphics - Fantastic graphics which look crisp and colorful on the PSP screen. No slow down and first impressions make this a promising looking game. Sound - Functional sound and some good music tracks fit in nicely with the game. Mainly house/dance music type stuff.
Cars - A good choice of made go kart type cars which can be unlocked and upgraded with various colours and other bodywork. Gameplay - A mixture of platform, racing and puzzle solving across a large number of tracks (over 100) - this may sound fun but soons become very difficult with strangely sliding cars and bizarre gravity.
Multiplayer - Supports ad hoc multiplayer (between 2 PSPs in close vicinity). Works well and is an enjoyable modify. Very similar to mario kart type racing, but not so fun! Saving - You can save your progress after each race onto the memory card and also make use of the PSP sleep function in mid race.
Longevity - This will probably last you upto 2 months if you can get past the frustrating bits. Extra life comes from the track editor where you can create your own tracks and even upload them to share with others. Also there are some interesting mini games including penguin bowling.
